From the press release “The Schuylkill Gallery, located in the East Falls neighborhood of Philadelphia, is pleased to showcase an exhibition featuring Jena Campbell’s recent paintings. The exhibit will be on display from September 15th through October 13th. The artist’s reception will be held on Saturday, September 22nd from 4 – 7 PM.
Jena Campbell’s most recent abstract paintings on display are the result of numerous applications of color and texture, which evoke a sense of depth, light and movement. Campbell’s use of color and texture create an atmosphere that is ever changing and moving. Her oil paintings give the impression of a transitory shimmer of brightness emerging from a rich black and brown gloom. Each image is an intention “to create an experience between you and the canvas”± to foster self-reflection and awareness.
Jena Campbell studies and creates art in Philadelphia. She has displayed her works in numerous Philadelphia galleries and she has been the recipient of the Thouron Prize, Charles Toppan Prize, Earl T. Donelson Figure Painting Award and the Cast Painting Prize. Campbell is a graduate of the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts and is currently working towards her BFA at the University of Pennsylvania.
